Under the patronage of the President of the University and the supervision of the esteemed Dean of the Institute, the Medical Devices Techniques Department organized a workshop during the month of January entitled *“Foundations of Sustainable Development and Its Concepts.”* The workshop was delivered by *Asst. Prof. Marwan Abdulrazzaq Kamel*, Head of the Department, and was attended by a number of the Institute’s affiliates.
*The objectives of the workshop were:*
1. Introducing sustainable development and its fields.
2. Identifying issues and challenges of sustainable development.
*The workshop emphasized the following points:*
* Spreading community awareness of sustainable behaviors and promoting a culture of environmental protection.
* Monitoring industrial pollution and imposing environmental standards on factories and commercial activities.
* Encouraging innovation and green economies that rely on clean technologies.
It is worth noting that the topic of the workshop falls under *Goal 4 (Quality Education), as it aims to raise awareness and build participants’ capacities regarding the concept of sustainable development and its dimensions. This also aligns with **Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) * through integrating sustainable education and awareness and promoting partnerships to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
