About the Department:

The Pharmacy Department was established during the academic year 2022-2023 at the Technical Institute/Al-Dour. It is considered one of the most popular departments amongst high school graduates, particularly those in the biological sciences field. This department has the highest rate of enrollment compared to other medical departments in the Institute. Graduates of this program can work only in the pharmacies of the Ministry of Health and the affiliated health centers. They will be responsible for guiding patients regarding the correct use of medication and ways to use it according to the prescription. Additionally, they will be responsible for raising awareness of the potential risks that can arise from the misuse of medications.

Striving to provide specialized educational programs in the field of pharmacy, aiming to build qualified pharmaceutical cadres capable of improving the pharmaceutical services provided to the community.

The mission of the Pharmacy Department is to prepare a qualified pharmacist assistant who possesses the skills and knowledge necessary to practice the pharmacy profession in a professional and ethical manner. The department seeks to provide students with a comprehensive education that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, enabling them to provide effective and safe health care to patients.

Admission requirements:

Students in the medical department are accepted from the preparatory study graduates from the biological scientific branch exclusively, at high average and degrees.

The Specialized content of the department:

The scientific department requires students to complete a minimum of two academic years of study. During this period, they must attend both theoretical and practical teaching sessions, which amount to approximately 2190 study hours. Additionally, students must complete 270 hours of summer training. In total, this program consists of 122 units.

The grades are presented to students before the end of the year exams.

Obtaining the certificate:

  1. To obtain a technical diploma in the field of pharmaceutical technology, students must pass theoretical and practical tests based on the number of units and weekly hours. The student must succeed in the first and second stages within no less than two years, with a minimum success average of 50%.

 

  1. During the first stage, students are required to complete a 60-day summer training period at a hospital, which is evaluated by the summer training committee through surprise periodic visits and an evaluation form filled out by the trainees’ supervisor.

 

  1. To succeed and be awarded a diploma, students must submit a research project in the specialty in the second year. This research is followed up by the supervisor assigned to supervise the research and is conducted at the end of the academic year. The period for preparing the research and the date for its submission and discussion is determined in advance and known to the student. The students’ research is then discussed by a specialized committee in the scientific department.

 

  1. Grades are provided to students before final exams, and students mentioned above receive a mark of 50% depending on the nature of the course.
