The Department of Pharmaceutical Technologies is organizing a scientific workshop titled "Protecting and Sustaining the Urban Environment from Pollution."

Under the esteemed patronage of the university president and the supervision of the institute dean, the Department of Pharmaceutical Technologies organized a scientific workshop titled “Protecting and Sustaining the Urban Environment from Pollution.”

Held this June as part of sustainability activities, the workshop was conducted in collaboration with the Quality Assurance and University Performance Division and was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khansa Basim Fadel, the department head, alongside Engineer Noor Thaer, a department affiliate. Several institute members participated in the event.

Workshop Objectives:

  1. Raising awareness about the various types of pollution prevalent in urban environments.

  2. Understanding the impact of pollution on public health and urban ecosystems.

  3. Introducing participants to environmental sustainability principles and their role in improving urban life quality.

  4. Encouraging sustainable environmental practices within and beyond the workplace.

  5. Strengthening individual and collective responsibility in reducing pollution and preserving the environment.

Key Insights from the Workshop:

  1. Adopting eco-friendly workplace policies, such as reducing paper usage and sorting waste.

  2. Providing recycling bins in government and private establishments.

  3. Promoting sustainable transportation, including walking, cycling, or public transit.

  4. Organizing regular awareness campaigns within institutions on environmental protection.

  5. Utilizing renewable energy in government buildings to minimize reliance on conventional energy sources.

  6. Enhancing green spaces within and around workplaces to improve air quality and mitigate heat effects.

This initiative reflects a growing commitment to fostering sustainable urban environments and reducing pollution’s detrimental effects on city life.
