Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Administrative Technical College, Assistant Professor Dr. Samir Taha Yassin, the Committee for Investing the Potential of Scholarships in the College organized a scientific workshop entitled “Requirements for publishing in international journals”. The workshop included the following topics:

• The mechanism of submitting scientific research to the journal, in which the lecture was delivered by the teacher, Dr. Ahmed Najm Sheet Al-Shalawi.
• Preparing previous studies by the requirements of publication in international journals, presented by the teacher, Dr. Nour Zia Aziz.
• Mendeley application, in which the lecture was given: The teacher, Dr. Radwan Youssef Siddik.
• How to write a research proposal, presented by Dr. Ahmed Sobeih Yousef.

The workshop was attended by several faculty, staff, and graduate students in the college.

The workshop aimed at:

• Introducing the basic elements of the research proposal and how to formulate it in terms of basic contents such as the introduction, the problem, the objective, the methodology, and the scope of the research.
• Explanation and clarification of the mechanism of sending scientific research to international scientific journals.
• Introducing researchers to the mechanism of dealing with previous studies and how to reach a proper identification of the research gap, and revealing the most important mistakes that researchers make when writing them, which has an impact on the rejection of scientific research when it is submitted to international journals.
• Introducing how to organize references automatically using the Mandali program and providing a full and detailed explanation of how to install the program on several types of systems, as well as how to add sources on the Mandali program and Microsoft word, and the search mechanism within the sources.

The workshop came out with a set of recommendations, the most important of which are:

The necessity of adopting the scientific foundations, the main points, and the requirements for the preliminary discussion of the seminar about the graduation projects and their outputs for higher studies.

• Continue to search for sober international magazines to avoid falling into predatory magazines.
• The necessity of informing the researcher of the previous studies and examining the findings that he reached and dealing with them critically, as he can benefit from them in his current research while commenting on the previous studies objectively after reviewing and criticizing them.

It is necessary of relying on the Mendelian program in fixing references and sources in the body of the research and not using the classic method in adding, modifying, and writing sources.
