Northern Technical University Organizes Forum on the Role of Academic Women in Building a Sustainable Digital Future…
2025-06-16The President of the Northern Technical University is a member and supervisor of the technical master’s thesis at the Northern Technical University, which discusses: The synergistic effect of two types of polymers on the properties of asphalt mixtures.
A technical master’s thesis, specializing in construction materials engineering technology, was conducted at the Technical Engineering College in Mosul. The thesis was titled: “The Synergistic Effect of Two Polymer Types on the Characteristics of Asphalt Mixtures.” The thesis, submitted by researcher Rania Badran Muhammad Ali, demonstrated that the binary blending of SBS and PGXpand polymers is an effective method for improving asphalt performance. This blending produces a synergistic effect that combines the advantages of both polymers and reduces their disadvantages, contributing to enhancing the properties and long-term durability of asphalt. The thesis aimed to:
Evaluate the effectiveness of the binary blending of SBS and PGXpand, and develop an economical and sustainable method for improving the long-term performance of asphalt, supporting the development of paving technology and enhancing the durability of asphalt layers under the influence of environmental conditions and traffic loads. The thesis recommended:
Conducting a field test section using the polymer-modified mixture to study its performance under real-world conditions over the long term and verify its effectiveness in improving pavement properties and resistance to wear and deformation.
The discussion committee consisted of:
Prof. Dr. Ayman Abdel Hadi Ahmed, Chairman.
Prof. Dr. Ithar Dhnoon Dawood, Member.
Assistant Professor Dr. Hassan Mohammed Ahmed, Member.
Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, Member and Supervisor.
