The Department of Geomatics Engineering Technologies held an orientation meeting with first-year students aimed at building bridges of trust and clarifying the department’s vision for an effective and inspiring educational journey. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Duaa Talib Hashim, Head of the Department, and Mr. Mohammed Yassin Hussein, Department Coordinator, with the attendance of several faculty members. During the meeting, the study plan, assessment requirements, and the importance of developing practical and theoretical skills from the very first day were presented.

The meeting commenced with a welcoming address that conveyed motivating and clear messages, emphasizing that education is not measured by hours, but by outcomes and applications. An overview of the Bologna educational system, the Student Code of Conduct, was provided, followed by an open discussion session in which students’ questions regarding curricula, laboratory facilities, and communication mechanisms with faculty members and academic advisors were addressed.

The meeting also included concise professional advice on time management, the importance of teamwork, and the development of an innovative mindset in the fields of geospatial sensing and spatial systems.

This meeting comes within the framework of strengthening the academic and professional spirit among new students and represents a starting point toward a successful educational journey in Geomatics Engineering.
