A seminar titled “Recycling in the Construction Sector: From Waste to Resources” was organized at the Mosul Technical College of Engineering as part of the academic plan of the Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technology.
The seminar addressed several important topics, including defining recyclable materials in the construction sector, as well as reviewing the most important recycling processes. The lecturers also discussed the environmental and economic benefits of recycling, along with challenges and solutions, reviewing successful examples from around the world, and discussing the circular future of the construction sector.
The seminar concluded with several recommendations, most notably: the need to activate intensive awareness campaigns and mandatory laws for waste sorting and recycling to support sustainable practices; establishing strict quality standards and advanced testing technologies to ensure the reliability of materials; providing government incentives and support for research and development projects in the field of recycling; and the importance of establishing integrated recycling facilities and processing centers on a larger scale to meet demand.
The seminar was presented by Asst. Dr. Enas Samir Mahmoud, and attended by a number of college members.
