The Mosul Technical Engineering College Council held its eighteenth open session for the academic year 2024-2025, headed by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Majid Khalil Najm, and attended by all members of the Council.
2025-06-04Mosul Technical College of Engineering, as part of its awareness and scientific activities, held a scientific symposium entitled “Are e-cigarettes safe?”
The Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the Technical College of Engineering/Mosul, organized a scientific awareness seminar aimed at highlighting the dangers of e-cigarettes and their increasing prevalence among young people.
The seminar was presented by:
• Dr. Safa Sinan Mahmoud, Department of Chemical and Petroleum Industries Engineering Technology
• M.E. Abdullah Adel, Department of Mechanical Power Engineering Technology
The seminar addressed the following topics:
• The origin and development of e-cigarettes.
• Their components and mechanism of action.
• Potential health risks (lung, heart, and nervous system diseases).
• The difference between them and traditional cigarettes.
• The impact of advertising on young people.
• Results of international studies on their impact on health.
• Positions of World Health Organizations.
The seminar concluded with several important recommendations, including:
• The need to refrain from using e-cigarettes, especially by adolescents and pregnant women.
• Launching awareness campaigns about their health risks.
• Imposing restrictions on their sale and marketing to young people.
• Supporting and funding scientific studies and research related to its impact.
The Mosul Technical College of Engineering affirms its ongoing commitment to spreading health awareness and encouraging positive behaviors based on knowledge and scientific research.
