Madam President of the Northern Technical University attended part of the discussion of the master’s thesis at the College of Agricultural Technology, which discusses “A Study on the Biogenic Synthesis of Gold Using Mustard Plant and Fusarium oxysporum Fungus”…

In support and encouragement of graduate students, the President of NTU, Prof. Dr. Aliya Abbas Ali Al-Attar, accompanied by the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Omar Rafei Mahmood, vice President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Danoon Yonis Danoon, and the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Shihab Ahmed Youssef, attended the defense of the master’s thesis at the College of Agricultural Technology, which was discussed at the College of Agricultural Technology. The master’s thesis is titled “A Study on the Biogenic Synthesis of Gold Using Mustard Plant and Fusarium oxysporum Fungus.”
The thesis presented by the student Nora Hussein Saleh aimed to uncover the ability of the mustard plant to synthesize and deposit gold particles in its roots and vegetative parts, as well as to study the ability of Fusarium oxysporum fungus to deposit gold in its hyphae. The study also aimed to investigate the effect of colloidal gold on the plant’s growth and vegetative characteristics, as well as the effect of gold on the fungal biomass, which is still under study.
The thesis demonstrated the following points:
The effect of adding colloidal gold on the vegetative growth characteristics of the plant.
Identification of the plant part with the highest potential for synthesizing and depositing gold particles.
Revealing the ability of Fusarium oxysporum fungus to synthesize gold particles and deposit them in its hyphae.
The suitability of the mustard plant to absorb gold metal from the soil makes it an important plant in environmental remediation.
After the student defended her thesis and it was discussed by the committee, her thesis was accepted with distinction.
The defense committee consisted of:
Assistant Professor Dr. Mazen Nizar Fadl, Chairman.
Assistant Professor Dr. Janan Qasim Khurshid, Member.
