Launching an advanced training course in MS Project for fourth-year students – Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technologies.

Under the patronage of the esteemed President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Aliya Abbas Al-Attar,
the Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technologies at the Technical Engineering College / Mosul launched today a specialized training course entitled “Project Management Using MS Project”, which will continue for a full week, as part of the department’s plans to enhance its students’ skills in modern engineering project management.

This course aims to enable fourth-year students to acquire practical skills necessary for preparing schedules, tracking work progress, managing resources, and analyzing deviations using one of the world’s leading construction project management software.

The course covers key topics, including:

  • Entering basic data and project setup.
  • Preparing the work plan (Gantt Chart) and defining activities and their relationships.
  • Managing financial, human, and equipment resources.
  • Monitoring progress and analyzing actual performance compared to the plan.
  • Preparing professional reports for informed engineering decision-making.

The first day witnessed excellent attendance and active student engagement with practical exercises, allowing them to build and simulate real projects both temporally and administratively.

Notably, students who pass the final assessment at the end of the course will receive a certificate of completion, reflecting their mastery of project management skills and enhancing their readiness to enter the engineering labor market.

This course is part of a series of training programs organized by the department to enhance students’ competence and equip them with professional tools required in the engineering job market, aligning with the university’s vision and mission in supporting applied education.
