Kirkuk Technical Institute organizes a scientific symposium within the program to support energy and reduce emissions entitled (Using cork waste in thermal insulation of buildings)

Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance at the Presidency of the Northern Technical University, in cooperation with the Division of Quality Assurance and University Performance and the Department of Civil Technologies at the Kirkuk Technical Institute, organized a scientific workshop entitled (Using cork waste in thermal insulation of buildings). The lecture was delivered in the workshop by Mr. Hussein Mazhar Kareem (Assistant Teacher)

This workshop dealt with the most important environmental pollutant is cork waste. The workshop indicated:

Cork is important in all aspects of practical life due to the many advantages that it enjoys, the most important of which is the ease of pressure and manufacture by the daily and life needs of the human being. Most of the cork does not decompose quickly, as its waste has significantly contributed to the pollution of the environment. The researchers were not able to destroy this material, so this industrial waste accumulated and threatened human health and all elements of the environment. It was found that some of these wastes can be controlled by the recycling process, and some types of cork may be re-formed to produce new goods used to supplement practical and daily life. This workshop aims to:

Two important things locally and globally, the first is environmental pollution (which is the problem of the times) and the second is the great economic return as a result of recycling and reusing materials without the need for the trouble and costs of raw materials. Among the industrial pollutants of the environment is cork waste. Cork is important in all aspects of practical life due to the many advantages that it enjoys, the most important of which is the ease of pressure and manufacture in line with the daily and life needs of the human being.

The workshop came out with several recommendations, including the possibility of using harmful industrial waste from industrial cork after recycling in useful areas of thermal insulation of buildings, as well as the use of cork material in areas that do not need high compressive resistance, such as building partitions that are not loaded with weights. The workshop recommended an economic feasibility study on the methods used In white cork waste collection.
