Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University,
Dean of the Technical Engineering College / Mosul,
Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar,
and in cooperation with the University’s Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance,
and within the framework of the Sustainable Development Activities for the academic year 2025–2026,
the Division of Quality Assurance and University Performance organized a seminar entitled:

“Sustainable Development and the Environment.”

In light of the accelerating environmental challenges such as climate change, pollution, and the depletion of natural resources, it has become imperative to reconsider current development approaches and transition toward sustainable development that balances present needs with the rights of future generations.

The seminar was delivered by:

Objectives of the Seminar:

1. Protection of Natural Resources:
   The seminar aims to halt the depletion of the Earth’s natural resources and promote their sustainability, including water, soil, and forests.
2. Environmental Management and Pollution Reduction:
   This includes adopting clean technologies, waste treatment, and reducing carbon emissions to improve air and water quality.
3. United Nations Environmental Goals:
   The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are directly linked to environmental protection, particularly Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), Goal 13 (Climate Action), Goal 14 (Life Below Water), and Goal 15 (Life on Land).
4. Green Economy:
   Promoting economic development through environmentally friendly approaches that ensure a balance between profitability and the protection of ecosystems.
