Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Dean of the Technical Engineering College / Mosul, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the Quality Assurance and University Performance Unit, in cooperation with the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department at the University Presidency, organized a training course entitled:

“Thermal Technologies for Water Desalination and Reuse as a Sustainable Option to Address Water Scarcity.”

The course was held over a period of five days, from April 1 to April 8. The course was delivered by Engineer Anwar Ahmed Yousif, with the participation of a number of college staff members.

The course addressed thermal technologies for water desalination, such as Multi-Effect Distillation (MED) and Multi-Stage Flash Distillation (MSF), as sustainable solutions to confront water scarcity by heating saline water, evaporating it, and subsequently condensing the vapor to produce fresh water.

The objectives of the course included integrating renewable energy—particularly solar and thermal energy—to reduce carbon emissions, enhancing water reuse practices, and improving energy efficiency.
