The Central Committee to Combat Smoking, drugs and Psychotropic Substances organizes a workshop entitled (youth and Community Awareness of the Dangers and Consequences of Abuse and Trafficking in Psychotropic Substances) at the Institute.

Under the patronage of the president of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Maha Al-Taif Jassim, dean of the Institute. The committee to combat smoking, drugs and psychotropic substances at the University, in cooperation with the psychological counselling and educational guidance unit and through the media and Government Communication Division, organized a workshop entitled (youth and community awareness of the Dangers and Consequences of Abuse and trafficking in Psychotropic Substances), attended by:
Dr Labib Hassoun Abdallah (chairman of the committee to combat smoking, drugs and psychotropic substances at the University.
M. Marwan Khalil (rapporteur of the above Committee).
Dr Leila Talal Ahmed (member of the above Committee and in charge of the psychological counselling and educational guidance unit).
 
It was attended by a number of employees and students at the Institute.
The workshop dealt with: –
Clarifying the role of the family through listening to young people to ensure primary prevention, as the first barrier for children, and methods of early detection of addiction.
The workshop aimed to:
– Statement of complications and damage caused by drugs
– Protecting our children from the influence of drugs and the most widespread types of drugs and how the family knows that it has a drug addict.
– To clarify the role that listening to the concerns of young people plays in reducing addiction.
– Promote community values and moral commitment to keep our youth from being drawn into addiction.
The workshop showed: –
The danger of drug abuse on the health of the individual and society, its impact on society and the system of moral values, and that the fight against addiction and drugs contributes to protecting society and individuals from this imminent danger 5, which affects it.
– Education about the dangers of drugs for the individual and society and that addiction does not only harm the individual.
– Occupy the leisure time of young people and interest in studying
Choose a good friend and listen to them and their problems.
– Providing a quiet family atmosphere, befriending children, and not neglecting or abusing them.
