Two instructors from the Northern Technical University publish joint scientific research in one of the international journals (Biochemical and Cellular Archives)

Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Fadel Hamid Haddad / Head of the Foreign Students Division of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations Department at the Presidency of the Northern Technical University, and the instructor, Alaa Younis Mahdi Al-Hamdani, published practical research tagged:

“Some Biochemical Parameters In Patients Of Covid-19 In Mosul City, Iraq”.

In one of the international magazines within Scopus, the work was accomplished in cooperation with a research team from the Northern Technical University and the University of Mosul, represented by:

  • Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Fadel Hamid Haddad / Department of Medical Laboratory Technologies / Mosul Technical Institute / Northern Technical University.
  • Instructor Alaa Younis Mahdi/ Department of Medical Laboratory Technologies/ Mosul Technical Institute.
  • Assistant Professor Dr. Anmar Ahmed Al-Taie/ Department of Biology/ College of Science/ University of Mosul.

The research dealt with the study of the relationship between some biochemistry examinations and COVID-19 infection in the city of Mosul through a clinical study of a group of 240 patients with COVID-19 infection (116 males and 124 females) and 112 from the healthy group, which showed That the study found “the majority of COVID-19 patients had increased levels of Ferritin, LDH, and D-dimer, while they had the opposite effect with serum GOT and GPT” as they showed normal values ​​in patients with COVID-19 when compared to the healthy control group. The study concluded that COVID-19 infection increases serum ferritin, LHD, and D-dimer levels and that monitoring of these biochemical parameters is especially necessary for patients with severe disease from COVID-19 to help improve patients’ treatment.
