The President of the Northern Technical University serves as a member and supervisor on the committee for the discussion of a master’s thesis at the Technical Engineering College / Mosul, which examines the strengthening of geopolymer concrete made from desert sand treated with glass fibers.

Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar attended as a member and supervisor on the committee for the discussion of the master’s thesis in the technical field of construction materials engineering titled: “Strengthening of Geopolymer Concrete Made of Treated Desert Sand by Glass Fiber under Different Curing Conditions.”

The thesis presented by the researcher (Adnan Al-Man Suleiman) explored the use of a mixture of fly ash with an alkaline solution as a binding material instead of cement, and compared dune sand mixtures with geopolymer concrete as fine aggregate instead of river sand, while adding reinforcement to strengthen geopolymer concrete with glass fibers under different curing conditions.

The thesis recommended the possibility of replacing cement in ordinary concrete with fly ash as a binding material, as well as the feasibility of using dune sand as fine aggregate instead of river aggregate.
