The Northern Technical University has launched a new initiative for peace ambassadors. Under the patronage of Dr. Aliaa Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the university’s president, the Peaceful Coexistence Unit, in cooperation with the Giz organization, launched a new initiative for peace ambassadors from students in the dormitories. The initiative included a visit to religious shrines in the town of Ba’shiqah and meeting with some Yazidi families, as well as a visit to the Mar Quryaqos Syriac Orthodox Church and meeting with the church’s pastor who spoke at length about the foundations of coexistence that have linked the town’s inhabitants, Christians, Yazidis, and Muslims, since ancient times… The visits were conducted in an atmosphere of joy and a love for exploring all that is related to Iraq’s various components and cultures.
It is worth mentioning that the Northern Technical University launched the Peace Ambassadors project at the beginning of this year for university students from the provinces, with the aim of enhancing social cohesion among the people of Iraq. Our students become ambassadors of Mosul to the rest of the dear provinces of Iraq, sharing their experiences and coexistence with the people of the city.
