The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdel-Saheb, received the Spanish Ambassador, Pedro Martinez, Avial Martin, and they discussed the prospects for academic cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, which was attended by the Director-General of the Department of Missions and Cultural Relations, Dr. Hazem Baqir Taher, the Minister of Education stressed that Iraqi university institutions are working in accordance with the standards of global cooperation in the scientific and research fields and cultural exchange with countries, expressing his keenness to develop paths of understanding with Spanish universities and provide a sustainable environment for academic cooperation. The Minister of Education called for the establishment of the Iraqi-Spanish University and a trend towards attracting and exchanging students, professors, and researchers and employing expertise that serves the requirements of comprehensive development at the educational, economic, and industrial levels.

In turn, the Ambassador expressed his thanks for this meeting and the readiness of the Spanish side to exert more cooperation and seriousness responsible for supporting agreements and understandings between the two sides, especially measures related to promoting joint cultural exchange.
