The Agricultural Technical College organizes a training course entitled (Mushroom Breeding)

Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Dr. Abdel Barr Ahmed Nouri, the Agricultural Technical College / Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit organized a training course on how to grow and breed mushrooms, and in the presence of the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs and Students, Dr. Omar Ibrahim Dalal Bashi The lecture was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Salem Allaf.

The course included a detailed explanation of how to grow mushrooms and a practical and applied part in which the participants were introduced to the practical steps of mushroom cultivation to encourage the cultivation and production of mushrooms locally for the purpose of providing them in the markets using simple local materials. The types of fungi that can be grown locally were explained, including Truffles, acaris, oyster mushrooms, morcella, and shiitake mushrooms, and the requirements and incubation period for the production of fruit bodies due to their great health benefits and high nutritional value proteins.

The course aimed to encourage graduate students to benefit from mushroom cultivation in making a productive project at home, with simple requirements:

  • Establishing a laboratory for mushroom cultivation in the college to teach and train students on mushroom cultivation.
  • Expanding the establishment of courses and seminars that inform the consumer of the benefits of the great mushroom and its nutritional and health value, especially meaty fungi.

A number of faculty, staff, and students participated in the course.
