Hawija Technical Institute, in cooperation with the Iraqi Al-Amal Association and the Change Makers team, organize a dialogue session on “Discussion of the Anti-Domestic Violence Law”

Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Omar Khalil Ahmed, Dean of the Institute, the Women Empowerment Unit, in cooperation with the Iraqi Al-Amal Association and the Change Makers team, held a dialogue session on (discussion of the law against domestic violence) and the lecture was delivered in both sessions from:

  • Mrs. Wassan Abdul Rahman Ali (member of the Women Empowerment Unit Liaison)
  • Nidal Ahmed (lawyer at the Iraqi Al-Amal Association)
  • Muhammad Hajim Hussein (social researcher at the Al-Amal Association)
  • And a team of researchers and researchers from the Iraqi Al-Amal Association
  • The Change Makers Team.

The session was attended by Dr. Obaid Majid Ali (Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs), Mr. Raed Wadallah Daoud (Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Students), and a number of its affiliates, students, and participants from outside the Institute.

The session dealt with the discussion of the law against domestic violence and its paragraphs, and the audience’s interventions by giving their opinions on the adoption of the law and its usefulness to the family and society, and whether the attendees or people support the adoption of this law or not.

The session aimed to understand people’s understanding of the law against domestic violence and its usefulness to the family, and whether people support the adoption of this law.

The session came out with the following recommendations: job opportunities must be provided for young people because the main cause of violence is unemployment and recommendations to pass the law, but within certain limits that do not contradict the correct habits in which society works, and the family does not leave the obedience of the guardian.

At the end of the session, Mrs. Wassan Abdul Rahman Ali (with the Creativity Shield) was honored by the Iraqi Al-Amal Association in appreciation of her efforts in holding these sessions.
