About the College
The Technical Engineering College of Mosul (TECM), established in 1993, has been dedicated to providing high-quality technical education. TECM is located on the east bank of Mosul, with the Tigris River dividing the city into eastern and western parts. Directly across from the college are two significant historical landmarks: the wall of the ancient Assyrian city of Nineveh and one of its renowned gates, the “Nergal Gate.” Behind this historic gate, the great Assyrian Empire was once established.
TECM has focused on fostering a robust technical educational environment, both academically and practically. This vision is aligned with market needs and aspires to position the college among leading international scientific institutions. One of TECM’s core goals is to deliver high-quality technical education by keeping pace with scientific developments worldwide. Graduates of TECM are well-qualified engineers capable of meeting the demands of the labor market.

Objectives

technically qualified personnel at various academic levels (Bachelor’s
and Master’s) who are both scientifically and practically equipped to work
with modern technologies. Graduates are ready for the job market due to
their early engagement with real-world work environments.
- Completing
the vertical development of existing engineering programs by
introducing postgraduate studies such as Higher Diploma and Doctorate
degrees.
- Enhancing
horizontal expansion of engineering disciplines by introducing new
specializations not currently available at the college, thereby achieving
horizontal integration.
- Expanding
education and training by engaging with society and its institutions,
to prepare a generation of educated youth capable of contributing to
various sectors of the labor market.
- Fostering
collaboration with local, regional, and international scientific
institutions to keep pace with ongoing scientific and technical
advancements, through information and experience exchange.

public-private partnerships by involving external stakeholders in
major decision-making processes through participation in the College
Council.

Student Experiences in The Bologna Process
Northern Technical University has embraced the Bologna Process initiative and it is been implemented in the College of Technical Engineering, Department of Building and Construction. This department has recently developed a new degree program to address the current needs of the labor market. The new program focuses on the restoration and rehabilitation of heritage buildings in addition to other building and construction subjects. This field has seen a significant increase in demand in recent years. With the increasing interest in preserving and restoring historical buildings, the department has recognized the need for professionals who are trained in this area. This degree program covers various aspects of heritage building restoration, including the history of architecture, building materials, and construction techniques. In addition to providing a solid foundation in the field of heritage building restoration, the program also places a strong emphasis on quality assurance in education. This is in line with the Bologna Process, which aims to ensure that higher education programs are of high quality and comparable across the republic of Iraq and the region. The program is designed to meet the standards set by the Iraqi Technical Vocational Qualifications Framework (TVQF), and students will be assessed based on the TVQF levels. The Iraqi Technical Vocational Qualifications Framework (TVQF) is a key component of the Bologna Process and is a tool that provides a common framework for comparing different qualifications across Iraq and the European region. The TVQF helps to ensure that qualifications are recognized and comparable and makes it easier for individuals to move between countries and to have their qualifications recognized.
