The Department of Mechanical Power Engineering organized a scientific visit to the (Mosul Dam Power Station) for first-year students “Bologna process” .

The purpose of the visit: To familiarize students with the components of water turbines used in power generation stations, both Kaplan and Francis types, and provide a detailed explanation of the mechanical parts, their operation, the control systems used, the operation mechanism of the lower and upper stations, the main channel of the water penstock, how to cool the mechanical parts using oil, as well as maintenance procedures and the problems encountered by the system with a detailed presentation on how to overcome these problems.
