In order to achieve the objectives of the Northern Technical University, which includes its social responsibility and shed light on the challenges facing the world in general and our country in particular regarding the water scarcity crisis and its threats to the stability of food security.
Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Rafi’ Al-Omar, Assistant President University for Scientific Affairs, the activities of the Second Food Security Forum were launched today at our Northern Technical University, which shed light on the challenges of the water scarcity crisis and the accompanying threats to food security and finding ways and solutions to confront these challenges to ensure a secure future.

Alongside this, a broad awareness campaign was launched regarding the importance of rationalizing water consumption and its sustainability, in close cooperation with the “Human Generation Triangle” organization.
In her opening speech, the President of the Northern Technical University announced the launch of the forum’s activities and the importance of this in enhancing the role of academic institutions in working together with the various sectors of the state and civil society institutions in drawing up an effective strategy to address these threats related to water scarcity, its decline, and the increasing incidence of land desertification and its negative impact on production. Agriculture and ensuring adequate food in light of the population growth witnessed by the world in general and our country in particular.
This was followed by speeches from key speakers from civil society organizations concerned with environmental conservation and the water crisis, and a speech by the representative of the Human Generation Triangle organization, the main supporter of the forum.
On the sidelines of the symposium, an exhibition for local food industries was opened. Representatives from various government departments and civil society organizations attended the event.
