Under the patronage of the President of Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the Technical Research Center organized a scientific awareness workshop under the slogan (Because you are a life…your awareness is your health) entitled (The role of scientific research and modern technologies in improving the chances of avoiding breast cancer) with the participation of a number of female members and students of the university. The workshop, in which the lecturer was:
– Asst. Prof. Dr. Alia Abdul Aziz Najm \ Oncologist and Radiotherapy / College of Medicine / University of Mosul.
– Asst. Prof. Dr. Younis Jassim Abdullah \ Immunology Specialist / Northern Technical University
– Asst. Dr. Tahani Ali Aziz \ Gynecologist / College of Medicine / University of Nineveh.
Definition of breast cancer, incidence rate, risk factors, statistics on incidence rates, prevention methods, early diagnosis through self-examination, ultrasound, mammography, radiotherapy and hormonal therapy. The workshop also addressed: Definition of the mechanism of the immune system to combat cancer, immunotherapy and the problems facing the development of cancer treatments. The workshop recommended the formation of joint research teams with the College of Medicine at the University of Mosul and the University of Nineveh to study the anti-tumor properties of some natural products, and develop cancer research. It is worth noting that the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has directed the need to raise awareness of breast cancer.
