Northern Technical University discusses the examination of the mechanical behavior of the hybrid composite of epoxy-reinforced glass-basalt fiber sheet under bending load

Discussed in the Technical College of Engineering / Mosul, a research project for a higher diploma, specializing in mechanical engineering techniques, with the tagged Mechanical Behavior Investigation of Hybrid Composite for E-Glass and Basalt Fiber Reinforcement Epoxy Under their Bending Moment.

The project submitted by the student (Alhan Salem Saleh Sultan) examined how to use natural compounds as alternatives to fiberglass and its benefits represented in lower weights, high rigidity in relation to cost, safety in use in stringent environmental and health requirements, and it is an increasingly popular choice for many applications. Which poses a challenge to traditional composite structures because it is environmentally friendly.

The objective of the project is to study the mechanical behavior of a hybrid panel made of basalt fibers with epoxy glass fibers subjected to a bending load (three points) numerically to show the mechanical behavior and its ability to overcome the limitations of glass fibers/epoxy resin using simulation through the ANSES program considering that the behavior of the material The vehicle is elastic and linear.

The discussion committee consisted of:

  1. Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Khaleel Najim / Chairman.
  2. Assistant Professor Dr. Hussein Muhammad Ali / member.
  3. The teacher, Dr. Thamer Aoun El-Din Mohamed Sheet/member, and supervisor
