Northern Technical University discusses smart methods based on computer vision

It was discussed at the Technical College of Engineering / Mosul, the technical master’s thesis in the field of computer technology engineering, tagged: “Smart Roads based on Computer Visions Based Smart Roads.”

The thesis presented by the student (Imad Suleiman Abdullah) examined the use of artificial intelligence techniques in managing smart roads based on Deep-Learning technology, using yolov4 networks and pre-trained CNNs.

The purpose of the thesis:

  1. Designing an intelligent road system that facilitates the movement of emergency vehicles by training a CNN-type algorithm to identify emergency vehicles.
  2. Training of yoiov4 type algorithm for vehicle license plate detection.
  3. Implementation of the proposed system on the Nvidia Jetson Nano platform

The thesis recommended:

  1. Possibility of developing the proposed system for detecting and identifying motorcycle license plates.
  2. The use of modern platforms to implement the system with high efficiency in real time.

The Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Majed Khalil Najm, and the scientific assistant professor attended part of the discussion. Ahmed Jadaan Ali and El-Sayed, Head of the Computer Technologies Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Ziad Khalaf Faraj, and several teachers and graduate students at the college.

The discussion committee consisted of:

  1. Assistant Professor Dr. Thaer Ali Saleh as Chairman.
  2. Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul-Sattar Muhammad Khader as a member.
  3. Assistant Professor Dr. Ahlam Fadel Mahmoud, as a member.
  4. Assistant teacher Emad Ahmed Mohamed, member and supervisor.
