Northern Technical University discusses an experimental study to analyze the performance of a single-slope solar still with extended fins in the climatic conditions of the city of Mosul

The College of Engineering / Mosul discussed the research project for the Higher Diploma in Power Mechanics Engineering Techniques tagged Analyzing the performance of the extended finned single-slope solar still in the climatic conditions of the city of Mosul – an experimental study performance Analysis of Single Slope Single Basin Solar System with Extended Fins in Mosul Climatic Conditions: an Experimental Study.

The research project submitted by the student (Mohamed Aqil Mahmoud Fattah) showed the design and work of a single-slope solar still performance device and efficiency in producing distilled water by 15.75% greater than the traditional solar water distiller product. The increase in the productivity of the modified solar water distillation device is attributed to Increasing the surface area of the basin. On the other hand, it was found that the efficiency of the modified solar water distillation device is 12.75% higher than the traditional one.

The objective of the project:- Fabrication of a single-slope solar water distillation device with an extended finned basin by adding the fins to a conventional solar water distiller basin and it was tested experimentally in the laboratories of the Northern Technical University / Technical College of Engineering in October.

A part of the discussion was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Majed Khaleel Najm, and several college professors and graduate students. The discussion committee consisted of:

  1. A.M.D. Abdul Rahman Habo Muhammad / Chairman.
  2. MD Nabil Mikhlif Abdul Razzaq / Member.
  3. A.M.D. Omar Rafe Mahmoud / member and supervisor.
