Mosul Technical Institute organizes a seminar on the correlation of the results of tests, tests, non-destructive tests for concrete with laboratory tests for compressive strength

Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Mosul Technical Institute, Assistant Professor Shahla Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Qader, the Department of Civil Technologies organized a seminar entitled (The Correlation of Test Results, Non-Destructive Tests for Concrete with Laboratory Tests for Compressive Resistance) delivered by Mr. Muhammad Abdullah Bakr – teacher

The seminar aims at Introducing the non-destructive tests of hardened concrete-their types, the purpose of their uses, the appendix of the methods of conducting them on the site and then expanding the explanation and clarification to include the correlation between the results of those tests (the results of the hammer test and the results of ultrasound tests), the results of laboratory tests, and the engineering properties of hardened concrete models in the laboratory including the resistance compression and density. The episode came up with the following recommendations:

  1. Emphasis on the necessity of activating the reliance on non-destructive on-site inspections of facilities and buildings in sites affected by military actions.
  2. Through the results of the non-destructive examinations of these buildings, recommendations are issued not to complete removal, but to correct engineering treatment for them.
  3. It is necessary to include non-destructive tests in the practical part of the students’ curriculum and to obtain a correlation of the results of those tests with the traditional destructive tests in laboratories.
