Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Mosul Technical Institute, the Department of Chemical and Oil Industries organized a symposium entitled (Hydrogel and its applications). The lecture was given by Dr. Heba Mishaal Awwad, in the presence of the head of the department and a number of his employees.

The symposium dealt with introducing the importance of hydrogel polymers and the necessity of using them in most agricultural and industrial life applications and in the food and medical fields.

The seminar aimed to:

Explaining the importance of using hydrogel polymers in green chemistry water purification processes, as well as removing heavy metals such as lead.

Highlighting the importance of hydrogel polymers in agriculture in terms of their ability to improve soil and transform it from unsuitable soil to fertile soil in terms of maintaining its moisture and supplying plants with nutrients and vitamins, which are released regularly.

Recommendations:

Focusing attention on the role of smart polymers or high-performance polymers that have medical applications, especially in the field of drug release, as well as their role in treating chronic diseases such as cancer and high blood sugar.
