2022-02-06Master’s thesis at the Northern Technical University is looking at (Enhancing the thermal performance of the heat exchanger by using a coating with nanoparticles on the surface)
The master’s thesis at Kirkuk Engineering Technical College examined (Enhancing the thermal performance of the heat exchanger by using a coating with nanoparticles on the surface), the thesis presented by student Banar Khaleel Hussein dealt with (Enhancing the thermal performance of the heat exchanger by using a coating with nanoparticles on the surface) in the Department of Power Mechanics Techniques Engineering during the 2021/2022 school year.
The thesis included a study on enhancing the thermal performance of the heat exchanger using a coating of nanoparticles on the surface. This study includes two parts, the first part is a practical part, which is coating samples of pure copper with nanoparticles using the traditional and nano-coating method, and two types of nanoparticles were selected, namely (copper). and silver) and then measure its thermal conductivity in the laboratory. As for the second part, it includes preparing a model using the engineering program ANSYS Fluent 20® with the technical specifications of a double-tube heat exchanger.
In his study, the researcher came to measure the laboratory thermal conductivity of samples coated with different thicknesses of nanoparticles compared to the uncoated copper sample. %, while when coating with silver particles it ranged from (3.2 to 5.6) %. On the other hand, the results of the numerical analysis showed that the coating process had a good effect on the performance of the heat exchanger compared to the traditional exchanger in the same operating conditions, as a noticeable increase in the heat transfer rate from the heat exchanger was observed in cases of coating, as the percentage of the increase in the heat transfer rate was 42.8% and 54.6% for plating with copper and silver particles respectively when compared to the conventional exchanger.
