The Master’s thesis at Kirkuk Technical Engineering College examined (the evaluation of the thermal performance of a generating unit in the Kirkuk gas station under real environmental conditions)

The thesis presented by the student Sarah Ahmed Saleh dealt with (Assessment of the thermal performance of a generating unit in the Kirkuk gas station under real environmental conditions) in the Department of Power Mechanics Techniques Engineering during the academic year 2020/2021.

The thesis included an analysis of the energy and energy available for the mentioned unit under the real conditions of the environment (weather) theoretically based on the law of conservation of mass, the first law, the second law in the light of the influence of each of the factors: the temperature of the external environment, the compression ratio, relative humidity, the change of load. And it relied on the monthly data rate for the archive of the operating department of the station for the year 2017. The data analysis was done in two ways, the first of which is the theoretical solution: using the Excel program, and the other using the CHEMCAD program.

The researcher concluded that high air temperature negatively affects the thermal efficiency of the unit, while the effect of the compression ratio had a positive effect on the performance of the generating unit.
