Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University and the supervision of the Dean of the Technical Institute Al-Door, the Department of Medical Laboratory Technologies at the Institute organized a symposium entitled High blood pressure and its impact on the retina of the eye and on Al-Khwarizmi Hall, delivered by the assistant teacher Muhannad Imad, and attended by a number of the Institute’s employees.

The seminar aimed to:

1. Definition of blood pressure, its types, and the most important causes of its occurrence
2. The relationship of high blood pressure with the retina and its harmful effects on the retina, causing vision loss in advanced cases.
3. Knowing the groups most at risk of developing high blood pressure.

The seminar indicated:

1. Be careful to check your blood pressure periodically to prevent a sudden rise, especially in the elderly
2. Do periodic check-ups to measure blood levels and cholesterol levels to prevent a sudden rise in blood pressure
3. Be careful to follow a healthy diet, exercise regularly, not eat foods rich in sugars and fats, and stay away from psychological emotions that may cause high blood pressure.
