Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yawuz Noureddin, Dean of the Health and Medical Technical College of Kirkuk, the Women Empowerment Committee at the Health and Medical Technical College of Kirkuk, in cooperation with the Women Empowerment Unit at the Northern Technical University and the Department of Medical Laboratory Technologies, organized a symposium Entitled “The Importance of the Role of Women in Preserving the Environment”.

Present at the seminar:

Prof. Dr. Abeer Abbas Al-Attar/ Head of Medical Laboratory Technologies Department.

The symposium dealt with the distinction of man in a special place among other creatures, and because he is a distinguished being, he bears a great responsibility to protect the framework in which he lives with other living creatures, especially since the environment with its various natural and biological systems surrounds the human society, of which women constitute half, and because she is a partner in human life, she is also a partner in the duties of this life like a man. Rather, protecting the environment today in our world, including the Arab world, in which women form a strong and distinguished presence.

The symposium clarified the role of women as a housewife and directors of family affairs and raising children away from their other important roles, and in this context lies the preservation of the environment and limiting the depletion of natural environmental resources. Most of the time, it is the woman who manages the household’s economic affairs by dealing with the natural resources available in the house such as water, food, and energy, and when the woman becomes aware of the importance and limitations of these resources.

The symposium aimed for women to play a very important role in maintaining a clean environment in the house that they take care of, especially in our eastern society, which depends almost completely on women in managing the affairs of the house. Women do many jobs, and in several fields as well, foremost among them is: rationalizing water consumption, because the misuse of water leads in one way or another to weakening the water stock in light of the repeated drought years – which in turn leads to a major imbalance in the ecological balance processes.

The seminar made several recommendations:

1. Describe the role of women in the home:

By observing general hygiene in all fields, using clean water in these hygiene activities, washing vegetables and fruits well before eating them, keeping foods and foods in designated places to protect them from corruption, collecting waste and waste resulting from the normal practice of life by the family, and recycling recyclable materials. Putting non-recyclable waste in closed bags designated for that as well, and then transporting it outside the house, placing it in the places prepared for it, and taking care of the garden of the house – if any – special environmental care so that it is far from controlling insects, diseases, and pests in them, with chemical control materials, Or reduce as much as possible the use of this method of control in the event that it is not possible to refrain from it permanently according to some diseases that affect plants, and other garden assets, and it is worth mentioning in this area that: A clean environment cannot be achieved as required if not comprehensive by all housewives, because the presence of some homes that do not take into account the rules of general hygiene along with Along with the homes that care about cleanliness, the required attention reflects negatively on all homes, both clean and unclean, and leads to environmental pollution despite the efforts made to get rid of this pollution. The issue is through its social relations with them and through its transmission of unpleasant news about diseases, damages, pests, and insects that come as a result of environmental pollution that man contributes to making.

2. Raising children in a sound environment:

There is no doubt that the mother woman is almost completely responsible for the most important aspect of raising children, in the house in which she lives and manages its affairs, because she is the most attached to them, and the most staying with them than men, and therefore she must work on their upbringing. correct environment.
