The Northern Technical University has demonstrated a notable scientific presence at the conference “Knowledge Economy… Entrepreneurial Universities and a Sustainable Economy.”

In line with the strategic vision of the President of the Northern Technical University, Dr. Aliaa Abbas Al-Attar, in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, the university participated with an official delegation that included the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Omar Rafea Mahmoud, and the Director of the Science and Technology Parks Department. The university achieved a distinguished scientific and academic presence at the conference organized by the Research and Development Department of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and hosted by the University of Baghdad from April 14 to 15, 2026.

In an achievement reflecting the university’s institutional and research advancement, the Ministry selected the Northern Technical University as one of four leading public universities in Iraq (University of Baghdad, University of Technology, Northern Technical University, and Southern Technical University) to present outstanding “success stories” and patents, in recognition of the excellence, activity, and effectiveness of its Science and Technology Parks Department.

The university’s active participation included presenting an institutional success story that reflects its applied vision, as well as highlighting the pivotal role of the Industrial Advisory Council in fostering an entrepreneurial environment and linking academic outputs with development needs and the labor market. The participation also featured the presentation of a pioneering and high-quality patent, underscoring the capability and efficiency of the university’s researchers in producing innovative and applicable scientific outcomes that support the knowledge economy.

This recognition and distinction are the result of the direct support and continuous patronage of the University President and her persistent efforts to provide an environment that nurtures creative ideas and technological projects. Through this, the university contributes—alongside its peer leading Iraqi universities—to building an effective academic environment and a sustainable, knowledge-based developmental future.
