Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the Dean of Al-Dor Technical Institute, the Department of Legal Management Techniques at the Institute organized a scientific symposium entitled (Basic Rules for Fair Trials), which is among the activities to be implemented in the department for the current academic year and in cooperation with the Scientific Division and Al-Khwarizmi Hall At the Institute.

The lecture was delivered by:

• Assistant teacher Maysa Kamal Abdullah, from the above-mentioned department.

The seminar addressed the following topics:

1. What are the basic rules for fair trials?
2. The impact of the basic rules and principles of fair trials on the rights of the accused.

The seminar aimed to point out:

The basic rules of a fair trial are indispensable in every trial, as it is the link between committing the crime and imposing the punishment on the perpetrator and fulfilling the right to impose the penalty on the accused, so the legislator must establish a balance between two conflicting interests so that one of them does not override the other, which is the right of society to exist The right of the individual to guarantee his freedom.

The main goal that the legislator seeks to achieve through the basic rules and principles of fair trials is to work to achieve a balance between the group’s interest in punishment and the individual’s interest in defending himself.

The judge’s adherence to the basic rules of fair trials is the guarantor for the protection of the freedom of individuals and their rights guaranteed by the constitution, the most important of which is the maintenance of personal freedom from underestimating or restricting it unnecessarily. Accused .

2. Spreading the legal culture with regard to the principles and rules of fair trials among the community.
