The President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, attended part of the discussion of the Master’s thesis at the Technical College of Engineering in Kirkuk, which examined the evaluation of the performance of floating solar stations in Iraqi airspace.
The thesis presented by the student Rasha Sabah Owaid dealt with the study of evaluating the performance of floating solar stations in Iraqi airspace.
This thesis aims to build an experimental model for floating solar stations containing a solar panel, and the effect of air temperature, wind speed, and sunlight intensity on electricity production and water evaporation from solar surfaces is studied. The tests were conducted under the real environmental conditions of the city of Kirkuk, starting from February to June.
The researcher found that the percentage of improvement in the electricity produced by the panel increased by 16.3%, and the evaporation rate decreased by 6.3% when covering the surface by 25%.
