The President of the Northern Technical University attends part of the discussion of the Master’s thesis at the Technical College of Kirkuk (Determining Building Cooling Loads Using Real Weather Data)

In support of her honor to graduate students, the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, attended a part of the discussion of the master’s thesis at the Kirkuk Technical College of Engineering, presented by the student Youssef Abdul Samad Khorsheed (Determining Building Cooling Loads Using Real Weather Data) in the Department of Power Mechanics Techniques Engineering During the 2021/2022 school year.

The thesis included a study on determining the cooling loads of buildings using real climatic conditions using the laws of the CLTD / CLF method to calculate the cooling loads. The cooling load calculations were made for the building (library) with dimensions (17m * 13m * 3.5m) located in Iraq-Kirkuk, which is located at latitude 35.47°N and longitude 44.40°E. Meteonorm version 8.0.3 software was used to collect detailed 20-year average local climate data. Use the engineering software MATLAB V.2014b. It has created special and appropriate codes based on MATLAB software; To determine the exact hourly, day and month cooling loads of a building in the summer month.

In his study, the researcher concluded that the highest pregnancy occurs in the month (August and July) respectively. The peak cooling demand for August reached 49.22 kilowatts on August 19, and the peak cooling load for July reached 46.4 kilowatts on July 21. This means that the peak cooling load for the summer is on the 19th of August. This supports its use of refrigeration load calculation, indicating a suitable method for installing appropriate refrigeration systems and equipment with high accuracy. Also, different internal design temperatures were used (23,24,25,26,27) degrees Celsius, as designing a cooling load for the building using the internal design temperature 22 degrees Celsius requires more energy for cooling, compared to 23,24,25,26 ,27°C, and it can be seen that when cooling to 22°C as the room design temperature, a 54 kW machine is required to be used only twice a year, and also when using (23,24,25,26,27)°C as the temperature Room layout, a machine with a capacity of (52,49,47,44,42)) respectively, is required to be used only twice a year. It verified the validity of the results obtained from the MATLAB program by comparing it with manual calculations, and the percentage difference was (0.1%(.
