The Northern Technical University Launches the First Educational Guidance Week

Under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and with the supervision of the University President, Professor Dr. Alyaa Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the Northern Technical University has launched the first Educational Guidance Week in collaboration with Al-Khayam Development and Peace Building Foundation.

The first day’s activities included a welcoming speech by Father Raed Adel, the head of the foundation, who greeted the guests. This was followed by an opening statement from the University President, announcing the commencement of guidance activities aimed at enhancing mental health. A panel discussion on social stigma took place, featuring distinguished professors and specialists, including Professor Dr. Mahfoud Sidan, a consultant psychiatrist, Professor Dr. Nada Fattah Al-Abayji, and psychologist Mustafa Nabil. Cognitive behavioral expert Mr. Farouk Al-Dabbagh from Sweden also joined the session. The discussion emphasized the necessity of addressing stigma to break down barriers and raise community awareness about the importance of mental health care.

The first day’s events also included the inauguration of a community library established by students and alumni of our university, following a campaign launched by Al-Khayam Foundation in preparation for the guidance week. Volunteer teams were recognized with awards for excellence and creativity. The day concluded with a program led by community activist Huthaifa Al-Hassou, who shared his experiences with young people about renewing hope and not succumbing to despair in order to achieve success in life. The meeting ended with the distribution of certificates of appreciation and trophies to the participants.
