The Northern Technical University held a scientific seminar entitled “Family Cohesion and Causes of Divorce Rates”

under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Aliaa Abbas Ali Al-Attar, organized by the Women’s Affairs Department, the Public Relations and Governmental Communications Department, and in cooperation with the College of Light, the seminar was presented by Mr. Dr. Faris Ahmed Al-Dalimi and Dr. Rana Saad Al-Sufi. The seminar discussed the importance of family cohesion in its impact on society, as it leads to the emergence of active individuals, which increases their productivity and creates individuals with high self-confidence levels, which they have acquired as a result of the impact of the family on their mental health, which is characterized by stability and immunity to the problems they face. The family bond creates a society filled with love, tranquility, and peace, as a result of the values it instills, which leads to the revival and progress of society. There are many factors that contribute to maintaining family cohesion and strengthening it, and if these factors are destroyed, we will face family disintegration and the collapse of marriage. From a legal perspective, the seminar discussed Iraqi laws and the Constitution, which provide for some cases of divorce and the role of the social researcher in listening to the spouses with the aim of reform between them. The seminar concluded with several recommendations, including the importance of directing spouses towards understanding the factors of family cohesion in order to continue this relationship between them, and paying attention to the causes of the spread of the phenomenon of divorce and finding clear solutions to reduce it.
