The Health and Medical Technical College in Kirkuk organizes a training course entitled “The Effect of Some Medicinal Herbs on Human Health”

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, President of the Northern Technical University, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Health and Medical Technical College / Kirkuk, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yawuz Noor El-Din, the Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques at the college organized a training course entitled “The Impact of Some Medicinal Herbs on Human Health”

The lecture was delivered by a number of the teachers of the above-mentioned department, who are:

  • Dr. Shatha Abdullah.
  • Dr. Ibtisam Abbas
  • Assistant Professor Esraa Anwar Muhammad

It was attended by a group of faculty members.

The course aimed at:

Introducing the audience to the danger of the popular mixtures, which lies in several things, including the source of these herbs, due to the contamination of the cultivation area with toxic metals such as lead and mercury, or the water used for irrigation may be contaminated with toxic metals.

The incorrect way to store them also increases the severity of the damage. When the storage areas are of high humidity or heat, they allow the multiplication of bacteria, fungi and yeasts and are exposed to insects or rodents such as mice or rats, which causes contamination of these herbs and cancels their therapeutic benefit, and makes them a source of poisoning when ingested by children and pregnant women. or the elderly.

The course included:

The necessity of conducting experiments on these herbs before starting to use them as a treatment on humans, and the need for patients to consult a specialist doctor before taking or using medicinal and usual herbs in treatment.
