The student must obtain an average of 60% for success in the academic subject and 70% for the general average in the subjects for the two semesters (the preparatory year).

A doctoral student takes a comprehensive oral and written exam by an examination committee that consist of five members of the faculty, holding a doctoral degree with the title of professor or assistant professor, provided that the chairman of the committee holds the title of professor. To assess his eligibility to continue his studies after successfully completing the study requirements of the preparatory year and within a period ranging from one to three months from the date of announcing the results of the preparatory year.

The student submits his thesis title with a research plan during the second year.
