Northern Technical University Organizes Workshop Titled “Women and the Environment: Towards the Safe Use of Cleaning Products”…

Under the patronage of the President of Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Aliaa Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the Women’s Affairs Division at the University Presidency organized an awareness lecture entitled “Women and the Environment: Towards the Safe Use of Cleaning Products,” as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to promote environmental and health awareness.
The lecture, delivered by Ms. Noora Hussein Al-Jarjari, addressed key themes related to the proper handling of chemical substances, particularly in the context of women’s daily practices.
The workshop highlighted several important aspects, including raising participants’ awareness of the environmental and health risks associated with the random use of chemical cleaning products, distinguishing between safe and eco-friendly detergents and natural alternatives, and enhancing skills for handling hazardous materials with caution. It also emphasized proper disposal methods for chemical containers and the importance of reading warning labels to ensure personal safety and environmental protection.
The lecture aimed to encourage staff and students to adopt sustainable cleaning practices, reduce chemical emissions in homes and institutions, and engage participants in practical applications on how to safely mix and use cleaning agents without causing dangerous reactions. It further sought to instill a culture of environmental preservation as a fundamental aspect of women’s societal responsibility.
The workshop concluded with several recommendations, including the need to intensify awareness campaigns and training workshops focused on environmental safety, urging educational institutions to adopt environmentally friendly cleaning alternatives, and continuing community education on the long-term health risks of improper chemical mixing.
It is worth noting that the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has emphasized the importance of implementing the National Strategy for Iraqi Women, particularly the pillar of protection and prevention.
