Northern Technical University discusses improving the properties of the foundation soil using limestone powder

The technical master’s thesis at the Technical College of Engineering / Mosul discussed the specialization of engineering techniques for structural materials tagged: –
Improving the properties of the foundation soil by using limestone powder
Enhance Soil Foundation Strength Properties Using Lime Addition
The thesis presented by a graduate student (Ibrahim Jassim Muhammad) examined improving the properties of clay soil by adding lime residues represented by industrial waste from the sugar factory in the city of Mosul, as well as Al-Helen stone dust resulting from cutting it and lime resulting from eggshells and comparing it with commercial lime, where it was found Through the study, an improvement was obtained in the engineering properties represented by the tests of unsqueezed compressive strength, direct shear, fracture resistance, and swelling rate.
The message was intended to:

  1. Employment and exploitation of lime waste in geotechnical engineering applications
  2. Improving the engineering properties of clay soil.
  3. Obtaining an environmental benefit by reducing carbon emissions during the manufacture of industrial lime, as well as reducing the cost when landfilling waste.
The thesis recommended studying the dust of Al-Halan stone after burning it to obtain bio-lime after adding water, as well as studying the engineering properties and durability of clay soil by adding egg lime and cement together.
Part of the discussion was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Majed Khalil Najm, and the scientific assistant professor. Ahmed Jadaan Ali and several faculty members and graduate students.
    The discussion committee consisted of:
  4. Mr. Dr. Moataz Abdul-Jabbar Mohammed, Chairman
  5. A.M.D. Abdul Baset Abdulaziz Mahmoud as a member
  6. A.M.D. Tariq Hassan Mohamed is a member
  7. M.D. Saleh Jaafar Suleiman, member and supervisor
