Mosul Technical Institute organizes a symposium on sustainable engineering and its role in achieving green environment requirements

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, President of the Northern Technical University, and under the supervision and presence of Assistant Professor Shahla Abdel Wahab Abdel Qader, Dean of Mosul Technologist, Mr. Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, and several teachers and employees of our institute, the Civil Technologies Department, in cooperation with the Quality Assurance Division, held its scientific symposium entitled (Sustainable Engineering and its Role in Achieving the requirements of the green environment.

In the Mosul hall, the following lectures were taken in turns:

  • Waseem Thabet Mohamed / Assistant Teacher
  • Rafa Mohamed Khader / Assistant Teacher
  • Zainab Ismail Abdullah / Architect

The lectures of the symposium dealt with the use of modern friendly building materials and the necessity of using recycled materials in road works, in addition to the use of warm asphalt mixtures in road works to reduce emissions.

Importance: The importance of the symposium comes given what the world is facing from the danger of environmental degradation that must be overcome while not neglecting the needs of economic development.

The symposium came out with a set of recommendations:

  1. The necessity of the participation of all relevant authorities in these activities, starting with universities, research centers, ministries of the state and its various departments, and ending with civil society organizations and private sector companies.
  2. Spreading the culture of sustainable engineering in higher education by including it in the curricula of primary and higher studies.
  3. Adopting the topic of sustainable engineering within the research plans of universities and colleges for scientific departments and research centers and approving postgraduate research and personal research for professors and researchers.
  4. Urging the teaching staff in the Iraqi universities and specialized institutes to focus on making the graduation projects for the students of the finished stage oriented towards the applications of information and communication technology, which are derived from the actual needs of citizens and society, which gives these projects scientific and practical value and provides the student with confidence and experience after graduation to engage in the labor market Soon.
