Mosul Technical Institute organizes a scientific course on genetic silencing

Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Mosul Technical Institute, Assistant Professor Shahla Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Qader, the Department of Medical Laboratory Technologies organized a course entitled (Gene Silencing), the lecture was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Noah Shet (Assistant Teacher).

The course dealt with the definition of the term gene silencing as a general term describing the non-genetic processes of gene regulation. The term is usually used to refer to the “turning off” of the gene by any mechanism other than genetic modification. This means that the gene that is expressed under normal conditions “that is, it is turned on” The cell turns it off.

The course lectures touched on the latest methods and mechanisms used to develop gene therapy through the applications of gene silence that influence the development of diseases.

The course came out with several recommendations, including urging researchers to investigate those mechanisms by which the activity of certain genes related to the development of a disease is inhibited and the performance of genes that work to curb diseases is activated.
