Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and the supervision of the Dean of the Institute, the Department of Garment Techniques at the Kirkuk Technical Institute organized a scientific workshop entitled “Sectarianism, Racism, and Ways to Strengthen National Identity.” The lecture was delivered in the workshop by Assistant Professor Dr. Sari Hashem Muhammad / Head of the Department.

The workshop covered:

The conceptual framework of sectarianism, racism, and national identity. The workshop aimed to clarify the meaning of sectarianism and its foundations. Racism was also addressed, what is meant by it, the most important foundations and forms of racial discrimination, and the concept of a comprehensive national identity.

The workshop concluded that sectarianism and racism must have reasons behind them or the so-called racist self-motivators that lead to this extremist behavior and that the elimination of sectarianism and racism can only be through the application of means to strengthen national identity, strengthen basic concepts of belonging and achieve national unity and national cohesion.
