Hawija Technical Institute organizes an electronic scientific symposium on (medical plants and their therapeutic uses)

Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Omar Khalil Ahmed, Dean of the Institute, the Department of Medical Laboratory Technologies, in cooperation with a member of the Association of Women Empowerment Unit at the University, organized an electronic scientific symposium and through the (Meet) application on “Medical plants and their therapeutic uses.” And present at the seminar were:

It was attended by a number of members of the institute and other formations.

The symposium explained various types of medicinal plants and the statement their chemical and physical specifications.

The symposium indicated that a medicinal plant is every plant that contains a number of active substances that have a therapeutic and medicinal effect against disease.

The seminar aims was:

  • Definition of medicinal plants.
  • Chemical classification of medicinal plants.
  • Division of plants based on the part of the plant used.
  • Classification on the basis of the active substances in the plant.
  • Fields of use of medicinal and aromatic plants.
  • Plants are used in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • The symposium came out with several recommendations:
  • The need to learn about plants and their different types.
  • Knowing the benefits of using each plant, whether medicinal or at home.
  • Knowing which parts of the plant can be used medicinally or at home.
  • Knowing the time of year to use the plant or of the day.
  • Do not use the plant for therapeutic purposes randomly, except with the advice of specialists.
  • Knowing how to prepare the plant for medicinal or home use.

The need to use medicinal herbs and reduce chemical treatments because of their side effects on health.
