Under the patronage and presence of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the Department of Media and Public Relations at the Presidency of the University, in cooperation with Bassma Company, organized for the first time at the level of Iraqi universities the first media forum under the slogan (The Role of Media in Universities and Society) and in the presence of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs Assistant Professor Omar Rafeh Mahmoud, the forum’s activities began with verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the playing of the national anthem and the university anthem, then the speech of the university president, in which she praised the role of the media and its impact on universities and society. Perhaps this honorable affiliation with this profession confirms the greatness and loftiness of the free speech, as the owners of the free speech are the advocates of freedom, and they are the ones who raise the flag of progress, development, and creativity, and this is a human right to reach the creation of a decent life equivalent to the value and sanctity of the human being. This word is in high degrees of sublimity, acceptance, and respect, and people’s hearts and minds are attached to it, and they line up with it in support of truth, science, truth, and beauty. Some support it and stand firmly on its side, and this is what we have taken upon us in our university since its establishment, and it is one of the young universities that needed the media as the honest image that supported the stages of formation and the formation of its identity as one of the newly developed universities in the dear city of Mosul, followed by the speech of the founder of Al-Noor College delivered by Mr. Thamer Mayouf, Director of College Information, and the forum’s activities began, which included three diverse lectures:

• A lecture on the role of the media in universities and society, delivered by Mr. Ali Mahmoud Hassan, director of Nineveh Now Channel.
• A lecture on audio media delivered by Mr. Nassar Al-Nuaimi, Director of Al-Ghad Radio Corporation
• A lecture on journalistic investigations and their patterns, delivered by Mr. Jareer Muhammad Saeed, editor-in-chief of Nineveh newspaper.

The forum was attended by a large number of state officials, media directors of public and private universities, directors of satellite channels, and several media professionals.

The forum activities were concluded by honoring a large number of media professionals and channel managers, the Nineveh branch, and the captain of the Nineveh branch of Journalists.
