A delegation from the French Embassy visits the Northern Technical University

A delegation from the French Embassy, represented by Mr. “Jean-Christophe Augé,” the French Consul General in Mosul, and Ms. “Bernadette Chio,” the Scientific and Academic Cooperation Attaché at the French Embassy in Iraq, along with Mr. Hussam Al-Tamimi, the French Academic Space Officer in Iraq, visited the Northern Technical University. They met with Dr. Aliaa Abbas Al-Attar, the President of the Northern Technical University, and Dr. Omar Rafee, the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, along with a group of department heads and unit leaders. The meeting took place at the university’s presidency, where Dr. Aliaa Abbas Al-Attar provided an overview of the university, its departments, objectives, and aspirations. The delegation then watched informative videos in both English and French. Following this, Dr. Omar Hazem Mohammed, the head of the Francophone Unit at the university, provided an overview of the Francophone Unit’s achievements and support received from Dr. Aliaa Abbas Al-Attar, highlighting the accomplishments made. After that, Dr. Saud Abdulaziz, the head of the Cultural Relations Department, gave a presentation on the university’s achievements and aspirations in global engagement and the signing of academic cooperation agreements with reputable international universities, particularly focusing on cooperation with French universities.

The delegation then met with a group of students from the Northern Technical University, including those from the initial and graduate levels, and some department representatives, at the university’s smart hall, where Mr. Hussam Al-Tamimi conducted a workshop attended by the visiting delegation, Dr. Aliaa Abbas Al-Attar, and Dr. Omar Rafee, speaking directly with the students about the importance of studying the French language and the facilitation provided by the French Academic Space for studying in France, the conditions required for scholarships and research fellowships in France. Attendees also asked the delegation questions, which were discussed and answered. Following the workshop, the delegation, along with Dr. Aliaa Abbas Al-Attar, attended the opening ceremony of the arts and crafts festival held by the Northern Technical University on its campus. Afterwards, the delegation returned with Dr. Aliaa Abbas Al-Attar to her office, where engineers from the Department of Construction and Projects explained the university’s plans to serve the local community and the difficulties and challenges faced in Mosul and how to support these projects through international organizations.

In conclusion, the visiting delegation thanked the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Aliaa Abbas Al-Attar and the Northern Technical University for their hospitality, warm welcome, and expressed their readiness to support the university in achieving its aspirations and goals, commending the rapid progress in urban development and advancement, and the significant steps taken by the university towards becoming a leading global institution.
