The President of the Northern Technical University attends a part of the discussion for a technical master’s thesis discussing: Improving the Performance of Solar Water Distiller System using Porous Medium and Phase Change Material under Climatic Conditions of Mosul City, Iraq.

In support of graduate students, Dr. Aliyah Abbas Ali Al-Attar, President of the Northern Technical University, attended a portion of the discussion for the technical master’s thesis in the field of Thermal Techniques Engineering titled:

*Improving the Performance of Solar Water Distiller System using Porous Medium and Phase Change Material under Climatic Conditions of Mosul City, Iraq.*

The thesis presented by the researcher (Muhammad Ali Basim Muhammad Ali) provides a comprehensive study aimed at enhancing the performance of a single-slope, single-basin solar distiller using a porous medium combined with phase change material. The solar distiller is considered a sustainable device used in water desalination, relying directly on solar energy. Utilizing this device will help reduce reliance on fossil fuels and decrease the electricity consumption of traditional water desalination and purification plants.

The main objective of the thesis is to study the effect of adding three types of porous media with phase change material on the performance of the solar distiller, as well as to improve the productivity and efficiency of the distiller.

The discussion committee consisted of the following members:

– Assoc. Prof. Dr. Iyad Suleiman Abdullah, Member.
– Dr. Nabil Makhlaf Abdulrazak, Member.
– Assoc. Prof. Dr. Omar Rafiq Mahmoud, Member and Supervisor.
